Fire Risk Assessments

Your legal requirements:

The introduction of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in October 2006 is arguably the biggest reform of fire safety law in over 30 years as it replaces all previous fire legislation.  The Order is enforced by the local Fire and Rescue Service.  It requires that all places of work AND premises where the public have access carry out a Fire Risk Assessment.  The Order places the emphasis on the Responsible Person for the premises to ensure that the legislation is implemented and complied with.

How we can help:

Carry out your Fire Risk Assessment and provide a comprehensive report highlighting any areas requiring action.
The report is compiled to a British Standard recognised format (PAS 79).
Assist in developing your Fire Safety Management System.
Provide sample record/test sheets if required.
Provide ongoing assistance and periodic reviews.

Asbestos Surveys

Your legal requirements:

The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002 (CAWR) came into force in May 2004 and was subsequently revised in November 2006 and again in April 2012.  The duty to manage requires those in control of premises to:

Locate asbestos containing materials and determine their condition.
Presume materials contain asbestos unless there is strong evidence to the contrary.
Create a written record of the location and condition of asbestos in the premises.
Prepare a plan for the safe management of asbestos containing materials in the future.
Ensure that anyone who is liable to work or disturb asbestos materials is made aware of their location and condition.

 How we can help:

Undertake asbestos surveys to HSG264 (HSE recognised standard).
    Compilation of your asbestos register.
Trained to carry out small asbestos works.
Arrange for Licensed Removal Contractor to carry out works where necessary.
Provide ongoing assistance and periodic reviews.

Health and Safety Inspections

Your legal requirements:

There are numerous examples of legislation that covers the workplace.  For example:

Health and Safety at work Act 1974.
Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. (BS 7671)
Health and Safety at Work Act (workplace) Regulations 1992
    Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.
Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992.
    COSHH Regulations 2002.
The Work at Height Regulations 2005
Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007

How we can help:

Carry out Health and Safety inspections tailored to your particular environment and ensure that risk assessments are kept up to date and reviewed as required.
Ensure that Health and Safety records are maintained.
Advise on appropriate staff Health and Safety Training.
Provide a system whereby any hazard data identified is cascaded down to managers for staff awareness and included where appropriate in Health and Safety Files.
Make sure required first aid arrangements are maintained in the premises.
